What counts as manual effort?
Count the work around the vehicle, not just the time spent writing a name on a sheet.
A shared-vehicle process can look quick at the key desk while still creating work elsewhere. The useful estimate includes the handoff plus the follow-up needed to keep status and records trustworthy.
Vehicle handoff: sign-out, inspection, mileage, destination, fuel, and return entries.
Coordination: calls, messages, and walk-arounds to find a key, vehicle, operator, or current status.
Condition evidence: collecting damage details or traveling to see an issue that could sometimes be documented with photos.
Reconciliation: correcting paper, combining spreadsheets, chasing missing returns, or rebuilding history after the fact.
